3-B12-FOLATE contains a synergistic combination of three bioavailable forms of vitamin B12: methylcobalamin, hydroxocobalamin, and adenosylcobalamin. The formula is complemented by active folate in the form of Quatrefolic® [6S]-5-methyltetrahydrofolate.

Each lozenge provides 3,000 mcg of vitamin B12 and 680 mcg DFE of folate. The combination of multiple forms of B12 supports various biochemical processes, including nervous system function, energy production, red blood cell formation, and methylation.

The lozenge delivery form allows the active ingredients to remain in prolonged contact with the oral mucosa. The lozenge should be allowed to dissolve slowly in the mouth without chewing or swallowing it whole.

Methylcobalamin

Methylcobalamin is an active coenzyme form of vitamin B12 involved in methylation reactions. It is required for the conversion of homocysteine to methionine and the subsequent production of S-adenosylmethionine, an important methyl-group donor.

Methylcobalamin supports neurotransmitter synthesis and regulation, DNA methylation, nervous system function, and normal homocysteine metabolism. This form of vitamin B12 also helps maintain the myelin sheath required for the normal transmission of nerve impulses.

Hydroxocobalamin

Hydroxocobalamin is a naturally occurring, non-methylated form of vitamin B12 that can be converted by the body into the active forms it needs: methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin.

Hydroxocobalamin has good stability and is retained in the body for a longer period. This form is suitable for comprehensive B12 supplementation and provides the body with the starting material needed to produce the required coenzyme forms of the vitamin.

Adenosylcobalamin

Adenosylcobalamin is the active mitochondrial form of vitamin B12. It participates in converting nutrients into energy and is essential for normal mitochondrial function.

Adenosylcobalamin is a cofactor for the enzyme methylmalonyl-CoA mutase and participates in the metabolism of certain amino acids and fatty acids. Insufficient activity of this form of B12 may be associated with elevated methylmalonic acid and impaired cellular energy metabolism.

Adenosylcobalamin supports energy metabolism, muscle and nervous system function, and the formation and maintenance of myelin.

Active Folate Quatrefolic®

Quatrefolic® is the biologically active folate form [6S]-5-methyltetrahydrofolate. It does not require the multi-step conversion needed for conventional folic acid and can enter the folate cycle directly.

Folate is required for DNA synthesis, cell division and renewal, red blood cell formation, and normal nervous system function. It also participates in methylation and homocysteine metabolism.

Vitamin B12 and folate work together. When vitamin B12 is deficient, the normal utilization of folate may be impaired. For this reason, combining these nutrients is especially important for red blood cell formation, cell division, and methylation processes.

Benefits of the Lozenge Delivery Form

Vitamin B12 from food must first be released by hydrochloric acid, bind to transport proteins and intrinsic factor, and then be absorbed in the terminal ileum. This process may be impaired by low stomach acid, atrophic gastritis, H. pylori infection, gastrointestinal disorders, gastric surgery, and the use of certain medications.

The lozenge dissolves slowly in the mouth, allowing vitamin B12 and folate to remain in contact with the oral mucosa. After the lozenge is swallowed, the remaining active ingredients enter the gastrointestinal tract. This delivery form is also convenient for individuals who have difficulty swallowing capsules or conventional tablets.

Amount Per Lozenge:

Folate — 680 mcg DFE, 170% Daily Value, as Quatrefolic® [6S]-5-methyltetrahydrofolate, glucosamine salt — 800 mcg.

Vitamin B12 — 3,000 mcg, 125,000% Daily Value, as methylcobalamin, hydroxocobalamin, and adenosylcobalamin.

Other Ingredients: Mannitol, modified cellulose, natural orange flavor and color, vegetable stearate, citric acid, and luo han guo fruit extract.

Does not contain gluten, dairy, soy, or GMOs.

Recommended Use:

Take one lozenge daily or as directed by your healthcare practitioner. Allow the lozenge to dissolve slowly and completely in the mouth, then swallow.
