Health products and supplements are an affordable and effective way to ensure you and your loved ones are getting the daily recommended intake of essential vitamins, minerals and other important nutrients necessary for optimal health.
Key Ingredients and Indications:
• Helps correct imbalances of fat-soluble vitamins.
• Supports the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, which is especially important in cases of impaired fatty acid oxidation.
• Supports cardiovascular health and helps maintain the strength and elasticity of arteries.
• Supports healthy immune function.
• Promotes optimal calcium absorption and utilization.
• Supports healthy bones and teeth.
• Enhances antioxidant status.
• Supports metabolism and normal thyroid hormone regulation.
• Supports healthy skin, hair, and nails.
• Helps maintain eye health and supports vision in low-light conditions.
ADEK Formula provides a synergistic combination of fat-soluble vitamins, including 25 mcg (1,000 IU) of vitamin D, as well as vitamins A and K, including K1 and K2, and vitamin E isomers as DeltaGold® tocotrienols in softgel form.
This formula is designed to support a healthy balance of fat-soluble vitamins in the body and promote bone, cardiovascular, and immune health.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A as retinyl palmitate helps support the health of the eyes, bones, and thyroid gland. It also supports the skin and the mucous membranes of the respiratory and digestive tracts, which form part of the body’s first line of defense against unwanted organisms.
The formula provides 1,515 mcg of vitamin A as retinol activity equivalents from retinyl palmitate, which serves as a precursor to retinoic acid, the most biologically active form of vitamin A in the body.
Retinoic acid plays an important role in the development of mucosal dendritic cells from bone marrow and participates in immunoglobulin production. Antibody-secreting cells are located within the intestinal mucosa.
In the gastrointestinal tract, vitamin A plays a central role in immune homeostasis by coordinating innate and adaptive immunity. Retinoic acid supports the migration of dendritic cells and T and B lymphocytes to the intestines and helps regulate their proliferation and differentiation, which is essential for maintaining the intestinal barrier.
Retinoic acid receptors also activate, suppress, and regulate the expression of genes involved in numerous aspects of development and other physiological pathways, including fetal development. Vitamin A is also essential for healthy thyroid function, red blood cell production, male and female reproductive health, and normal cellular maturation.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E isomers, including delta- and gamma-tocotrienols, are important members of the vitamin E family. Tocotrienols support bone health and provide powerful antioxidant activity. Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals that may damage the body’s cells.
ADEK Formula contains vitamin E isomers in the form of tocotrienols. These annatto-derived compounds are extracted through a natural evaporation process.
A growing body of research suggests that delta- and gamma-tocotrienols may provide greater support than alpha-tocopherols for antioxidant activity, bone health, cardiovascular function, and a balanced inflammatory response.
Vitamin E is known to support the integrity of cellular membranes and structural lipids. Human studies suggest that supplementation with delta- and gamma-tocotrienols may support cardiovascular health, including healthy blood lipid metabolism, immune regulation, neurological and cognitive function, skin protection, and liver health.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D is provided as cholecalciferol, or vitamin D3, the same form produced naturally in the skin following exposure to ultraviolet light. Vitamin D supports calcium absorption in the intestinal tract and helps regulate innate and adaptive immune responses.
Vitamin D3 is essential for the normal development and maintenance of bones and teeth because it helps regulate calcium levels in the body.
Combining vitamin K with vitamin D is important for directing calcium toward hard tissues. Increasing vitamin D intake when vitamin K status is insufficient may increase the risk of calcium deposition in arteries and soft tissues, potentially affecting arterial elasticity and cardiovascular function.
Vitamin D is necessary not only for bone health but also for normal immune function. It helps regulate innate and adaptive immune responses through activation of the vitamin D receptor gene.
The vitamin D receptor is an important transcription factor involved in the differentiation of bone marrow cells and also plays a role in regulating endothelial tight-junction proteins and the composition of the intestinal microbiota.
Vitamin D participates in regulating the balance between Th1 and Th2 lymphocytes and in controlling the expression of inflammatory cytokines. Research also indicates that maintaining adequate vitamin D status in children may support normal immune defenses during periods of seasonal respiratory illness.
Vitamin K
The vitamin K complex includes vitamin K1 as phytonadione and vitamin K2 as menaquinone-4, or MK-4. The formula also contains geranylgeraniol, which participates in the pathways involved in the body’s production of MK-4.
Vitamins K1 and K2 as MK-4 help activate osteocalcin, a protein that binds calcium and helps direct it into bones. They also activate matrix Gla protein, which supports the proper distribution of calcium and helps limit its accumulation in arteries and other soft tissues.
Vitamin K1 supports normal blood clotting. A portion of vitamin K1 can be converted into vitamin K2 within the body.
Vitamin K2 as MK-4 activates proteins that bind newly absorbed calcium and help incorporate it into bones and teeth. At the same time, vitamin K2 supports cardiovascular health by promoting the proper distribution of calcium.
Geranylgeraniol supports the body’s production of vitamin K2 in the form of MK-4. The body’s production of geranylgeraniol may decline with age. Certain medications, particularly those used to manage high cholesterol and osteoporosis, may also affect geranylgeraniol production.
Geranylgeraniol supplementation may provide additional nutritional support for individuals taking statins or bisphosphonates, which can affect geranylgeraniol synthesis and tissue concentrations of MK-4. MK-4 is widely distributed throughout the human body and is a major tissue form of vitamin K2.
