AMINO, 120 Capsules
Free-form amino acid complex for protein metabolism, muscle support, and tissue recovery
Formula Benefits
AMINO provides a comprehensive blend of crystalline amino acids in their free form. Unlike amino acids contained in whole dietary proteins, free-form amino acids do not require initial breakdown by digestive proteases and can be readily incorporated into protein and energy metabolism.
Amino acids are structural components of proteins and participate in nearly every physiological process in the body. They are required for building and repairing muscle and connective tissue and for producing enzymes, neurotransmitters, and other biologically active compounds.
Of the 20 standard amino acids, nine are considered essential and must be obtained regularly from the diet. The body does not maintain substantial amino acid reserves. Therefore, inadequate protein intake, a restrictive diet, increased physical demands, or impaired digestion may increase the need for specific amino acids.
AMINO provides eight essential amino acids, arginine, alpha-ketoglutarate, and the active form of vitamin B6. The formula is designed to support protein metabolism, muscle maintenance, tissue recovery, and normal nervous system function.
Primary Indications
• Inadequate dietary intake of high-quality protein and essential amino acids.
• Restrictive, selective, or unbalanced diets.
• Limited consumption or avoidance of protein-rich foods.
• Increased amino acid requirements during periods of growth.
• Support for muscle protein synthesis and recovery.
• Support for muscle mass during physical activity.
• Recovery following intense exercise, surgery, injury, or prolonged illness.
• Nutritional support during periods of increased catabolic demand.
• Support for connective tissue and normal collagen synthesis.
• Support for healthy skin, hair, and nails.
• Support for red blood cell and hemoglobin production.
• Support for energy metabolism and normal physical performance.
• Additional nutritional support for individuals with insufficient body weight.
• Support for older adults at risk of age-related loss of muscle mass.
• Correction of an identified amino acid insufficiency based on laboratory or metabolic testing.
Key Ingredients and Their Functions
Vitamin B6 — 14 mg
Pyridoxal-5-phosphate is the active coenzyme form of vitamin B6. It participates in more than 100 enzymatic reactions, primarily those involved in protein and amino acid metabolism. Vitamin B6 is also required for neurotransmitter synthesis, hemoglobin production, energy metabolism, and normal nervous system function.
L-Histidine — 338 mg
Histidine is an essential amino acid and a precursor to histamine. It participates in tissue growth and repair, protein and hemoglobin production, and maintenance of the myelin sheath surrounding nerve fibers.
Histamine produced from histidine participates in immune responses, neuronal signaling, and the regulation of gastric acid secretion. Gastrin is a hormone rather than a digestive enzyme.
L-Leucine — 338 mg
Leucine is a branched-chain amino acid, or BCAA, that plays an important role in regulating muscle protein synthesis. It contributes to activation of the mTOR signaling pathway associated with muscle growth, repair, and maintenance.
Leucine also supports nitrogen balance and recovery following physical activity.
Alpha-Ketoglutarate — 300 mg
Alpha-ketoglutarate is an intermediate in the Krebs cycle, one of the body’s primary pathways for cellular energy production. It participates in amino acid metabolism, nitrogen transfer, and glutamate production.
Alpha-ketoglutarate complements the amino acid blend and supports energy and nitrogen metabolism, particularly during periods of increased physical and metabolic demand.
L-Arginine — 300 mg
Arginine is a conditionally essential amino acid. Requirements may increase during periods of rapid growth, illness, injury, and recovery.
Arginine participates in the urea cycle and in protein and nitric oxide synthesis. It supports circulation, immune function, cell division, and normal tissue-repair processes.
L-Lysine — 300 mg
Lysine is an essential amino acid required for normal growth, protein synthesis, and tissue repair. It participates in the production of collagen and carnitine and supports calcium absorption and retention.
Lysine is particularly important during periods of growth and for the maintenance of healthy bones, muscles, and connective tissue.
L-Phenylalanine — 300 mg
Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid and a precursor to tyrosine. Through tyrosine, it participates in the production of dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine.
These neurotransmitters are involved in attention, motivation, emotional responses, and physiological adaptation to increased demands.
L-Valine — 300 mg
Valine is a BCAA that participates in muscle energy metabolism. It helps support nitrogen balance and muscle recovery and maintenance during physical activity and periods of insufficient energy intake.
L-Isoleucine — 270 mg
Isoleucine is an essential BCAA. It participates in muscle energy metabolism, muscle maintenance and repair, hemoglobin production, and glucose metabolism.
L-Methionine — 270 mg
Methionine is a sulfur-containing essential amino acid. It participates in protein synthesis and serves as a precursor to S-adenosylmethionine, one of the body’s primary methyl-group donors.
Methionine is required for methylation processes and for the synthesis of cysteine, glutathione, creatine, epinephrine, phospholipids, and other important compounds.
L-Threonine — 270 mg
Threonine is an essential amino acid involved in the synthesis of protein, collagen, elastin, and components of tooth enamel. It is also incorporated into mucins, the protective proteins of the gastrointestinal mucus layer.
Threonine supports connective tissue, mucosal integrity, and normal protein metabolism.
How the Formula Works
AMINO supplies free-form amino acids that can be used directly in the synthesis of new proteins and other biologically active compounds.
The combination of leucine, isoleucine, and valine supports muscle protein and energy metabolism. Lysine, threonine, and arginine participate in connective-tissue formation and repair. Methionine supports methylation and the production of sulfur-containing compounds, while phenylalanine participates in catecholamine neurotransmitter synthesis.
Alpha-ketoglutarate connects amino acid metabolism with cellular energy production. Active vitamin B6 is required for enzymatic amino acid conversion and neurotransmitter synthesis.
