The emu is a grandiose, flightless bird native to Australia that has survived between 60 and 100 million years! We render the Emu Oil from the bird’s fat, which stores nutrition and energy for when it’s needed most: during drought, famine and reproduction phases.

The oil is rendered promptly at a gentle, low temperature to retain all of its nutritional properties (other brands may remove the fat and freeze it for rendering at a later point).

This efficient and advanced method preserves the integrity and yields the highest quality Emu Oil.

The most bioavailable and absorbable form of vitamin K

Smidge® Emu Oil provides the most bioavailable and absorbable form of vitamin K, which is vitamin K2 as MK-4 (the fat-soluble, converted form of vitamin K2 from animal fat (not plants)).

This is because your biochemistry must first convert all forms of vitamin K into vitamin K2 (MK-4) — to be absorbed and utilized in the body — including vitamin K1 and MK-7 (plant-based forms of vitamin K).

And the conversion rate in the body from the plant forms of vitamin K (K1 and K7) are low, and dependent on gut health. For instance, many people only absorb about 20% of vitamin K1. So you’re likely only to get a small amount of vitamin K when you take it in the plant form, MK7.
